Private Pilot Licence
The first step in aviation training is to obtain your private pilot licence, this is the foundation to all your future flying.
Night Rating
After obtaining a private pilot licence, the night rating allows the pilot to fly in unsuitable visual weather conditions and at night.
Instrument Rating
With an instrument rating, a pilot will have the ability to control the aircraft attitude and performance, using instruments and radio aids.
Commercial Pilot Licence
If you wish to pursue a career as a commercial pilot, this is the course for you.
Multi-Engine Rating
A multi-engine rating qualifies you to fly an aircraft with more than one engine. Most employment opportunities require experience on multi engine aircraft.
Instructors Rating
Obtaining an Instructors rating is money well invested. The most natural place for a commercial pilot to build hours towards an ATPL is by becoming a flight Instructor.
Air Transport Pilots licence
If you want to go all the way and become an airline captain, this is the licence that you will have to acquire. This is also the highest qualification you can get as a pilot.
Type Rating
A type rating is a regulating agency’s certification for an airplane pilot to fly a special type of aircraft that will require additional training. We offer Turbine as well as Type ratings on A320/B737 Types.
Turbine Endorsements
Turbine endorsements are available for Cessna Caravan, Beechcraft King Air 200, Beechcraft 1900 and Pilatus PC-12.

Sunny South Africa allows you to quickly rack up your flying miles and, later, to learn to fly in a congested air space, near a busy airport, whilst you are in the safe hands of our experienced Instructors.
About The Academy
Our aim is to provide one destination for international students to be able to do a type rating for any airline.
The Advanced Training Academy was founded in 2010. In 2020, we became a sister company to Mach 1 Aviation Academy and can offer aspirational pilots a full range of facilities.
Our site at Springs Airfield is near Johannesburg. It’s ideal for training because it has an outside controlled airspace with a non-congested circuit, short taxi time to the runways and extremely short flying time to the GF ( ± 5 min).
Our facilities include a flight simulator, ground school with online exams, and accommodation.
